Aging might be inevitable, but there’s nothing wrong with pushing it off for a while. Keeping your skin looking young and healthy is easier than it may seem. Here are our top tips and treatments to follow in order for you to maintain a youthful look.

General Tips

The first step to keeping your youthful look is to follow four simple lifestyle rules. Luckily, they’re quite easy to adhere to, so you don’t need to worry about doing anything crazy in exchange for the skin of your dreams.

Stay Out of the Sun

It’s summer, so you should be outside enjoying the sunshine. But make sure you’re always wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a SPF rating of at least 30. The sun’s UVA and UVB rays are responsible for about 80% of visible signs of aging in your skin. The UV light breaks down the elastin in your skin, leading to a saggy and dull appearance, wrinkles, age spots, and an uneven skin tone.
Remember that even if it’s cloudy outside, the sun’s rays are out. Be sure to wear sunscreen every day and reapply every few hours as necessary.

Get Plenty of Rest

Sleeping is a necessary activity we must do every night, so it’s important to do it correctly. As you sleep, your body will release hormones promoting cell turnover and renewal. Collagen, the body’s natural wrinkle prevention, is also produced as you snooze so make sure you’re aiming for at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night.
Take this as your sign to upgrade from a cotton to a satin pillowcase. Tossing and turning on rough fabric can contribute to the breakdown of the collagen in your skin, leading to wrinkles. Satin is smooth on your skin and has the added benefit of keeping you cool at night.

Drink Water

Dehydration can cause your skin to look dry and dull. Make sure you’re drinking at least 8 glasses of filtered water per day to maintain glowing skin and keep your body at optimal health. Water will help replenish your skin’s tissues and cells, allowing for healthier looking skin.

Get Active

Try to make your days as active as possible; it can make you younger at a cellular level! A recent study showed that people who exercised the most showed biological aging markers that appeared almost a decade younger than those of sedentary people. Exercise in general increases blood flow, moving oxygen and nutrients all around the body and skin, resulting in a more youthful look.

Skincare

The four lifestyle tips above definitely help to keep you looking youthful and refreshed, but sometimes your skin needs just a little bit more of a push in the right direction. Here at Foothills Med Spa, we offer multiple noninvasive skincare treatments that will leave your skin looking radiant.

Morpheus8

Looking to rejuvenate your skin without surgery? Using a combination of micro needling and radiofrequency technology, Morpheus8 can renew and tighten your skin. Morpheus8 is the first and only device that molds fat subdermally, morphing facial features for a more youthful appearance. Morpheus8 produces extremely uniform results with little to no damage on your skin. You can even get right back to your daily schedule after a brief downtime.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel helps to minimize wrinkles, dullness, hyperpigmentation, and scarring. It can also help to treat various skin conditions, such as acne and rosacea. As the name implies, a chemical peel will target and remove the outermost layer of the skin. Before scheduling a chemical peel, make sure to discuss what type of peel would be best for your skin with a licensed esthetician.

HydraFacial MD

Do you want to improve your skin’s overall texture, tone, and appearance? A HydraFacial MD treatment might be right for you! Using a swirling motion, the HydraFacial MD will deliver hydration while removing dead skin, dirt, debris, and impurities from your skin. You’ll experience no downtime and get the same benefits as a professional facial and a microdermabrasion combined!

Injections and Fillers

Sometimes skin treatments alone may not deliver the results you want. In that case, you might want to consider injections or fillers. Injections and fillers work to restore volume and softness to your skin.

Botox

If you’d like to reduce moderate to severe frown lines, wrinkles, or alleviate a “gummy smile,” Botox may be the right treatment for you. Botox treatment is quick and will show results in just 1 to 2 weeks! However, Botox is temporary, lasting for just about 90 days. If you like the results, we recommend regular injections every 3 to 4 months.

Dermafiller

As we age, the collagen, fat, bone, and muscle mass that make up our facial structure will experience a natural breakdown. While this is completely normal, it tends to make us look more tired than we really are. Dermafillers are the answer to this problem! They are a temporary and natural-looking way to correct fine lines, wrinkles, sunken eyes, and most everything else that you’ve gradually lost over time. Consult a licensed esthetician to determine which type of filler is right for your skin.
